See if we're a good fit.

Start here to schedule a 45-min introductory conversation with our Head of Advice, Peter Campbell, CFP®, to see if working with us makes sense. We’ll walk through your priorities, explain our approach, and outline what the next steps would be.

You can learn more about how we work with our clients and review our FAQs below.

What to expect—

1. Intro Meeting

This is a chance to see if we’re the right fit for your financial needs. We’ll take some time to get to know each other, answer your questions, and explain what we do and how we do it.

2. Mind-Mapping

We start with a mind-mapping session and throw everything on a whiteboard. We’ll dig into why you’ve worked hard for your money and what it’s all for.

3. Strategy

We build your plan in focused stages, not one overwhelming presentation. Each conversation addresses a core area: retirement and cash flow, investments, taxes, and risk planning, so decisions are clear and actionable.

4. Action

Bull Oak will continually oversee and optimize your finances. But beyond the work we do behind the scenes, we’ll also meet with you throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who's a good fit for your service?

We work best with near retirees and current retirees looking to delegate their ongoing financial planning and investing needs. You’ve achieved great things and are too busy to manage the complexity of your finances. You also understand the benefit of an experienced human advisor.

Most importantly, genuinely nice people. We value kindness and mutual respect.

What happens after I start to work with Bull Oak?

Once you start working with Bull Oak, we’ll begin with a mind-mapping session and throw everything on a whiteboard. We’ll dig into why you’ve worked hard for your money and what it’s all for. From there, we’ll create a plan to achieve your version of success. This is a jumping-off point. It’s not a document that collects dust—it’s a methodology. Bull Oak will continually oversee and optimize your finances. But beyond the work we do behind the scenes, we’ll also meet with you throughout the year.

What are your fees?

Bull Oak’s fee structure is designed to be simple, fair, and transparent. We aim to build long-term relationships and provide outsized value relative to our costs. No commissions, hidden fees, or extra charges.

We charge a flat annual fee of $16,000. There is also a separate fee based on assets under management. There’s no charge on the first $1 million we manage, and just 0.35% on anything above that.

Together, these fees cover all of our services, including financial planninginvestment management, and tax planning.

What services do I get for your fee?

Bull Oak is a full-service financial advisory firm. We provide investment management, financial planning,  and tax planning. Our all-inclusive service frees up your time and gives you an optimal wealth management experience with harmony between all aspects of your financial life.

Where will my money be? Do I still own my accounts?

Your money will be held at Charles Schwab, a third-party custodian, and you will continue to own your accounts. Furthermore, your assets will be protected and insured.

Do you offer hourly billing or one-time project engagements?

We do our best work with clients seeking a long-term relationship. At this time, Bull Oak does not offer hourly billing or one-time project engagements.

If you prefer a financial advisor who offers these limited-term engagements, consider reaching out to the Garrett Planning Network.

Can you work with clients remotely?

Yes—we’re based in San Diego, CA, but we work with clients nationwide. Our team is happy to meet virtually or in whatever way is most convenient for you.

How did you come up with the name “Bull Oak”?

A bull oak is an Australian tree known for having the world’s strongest wood, with a Janka hardness rating of 5,060 lbf. It develops deep roots, withstands stress, and is built to endure.

We chose the name Bull Oak because it reflects how we think about financial planning and portfolio management. Durable, disciplined, and designed to last. Not flashy or fragile. Focused on long-term strength rather than short-term results.

That philosophy shapes how we advise clients and how we’ve built the firm.
