Financial planning that matches your ambition.

Our Process

We’re passionate about good financial advice. Helping you achieve and do more is what drives us.

How you earn, spend, and invest your income will determine your future lifestyle. We approach planning with a data-driven mindset using a fact-based process to determine the best path for you. It begins with a mind-mapping session to help us understand your goals and give you a higher probability of success in retiring early.

What to expect—Year 1

Intro Meeting

This is a chance to see if we’re the right fit for your financial needs. We’ll take some time to get to know each other, answer your questions, and explain what we do and how we do it.

After you sign the necessary documents to become a client, you’ll start your journey with Bull Oak.

Mind-Mapping

We start by digging into why you’ve worked hard for your money and what it’s all for. We do this with a mind-mapping session and throw everything on a whiteboard. This is a collaborative process where we guide you through your goals, income, assets, and everything in between.

Over the next several weeks, we will build and deliver your financial plan in focused stages, not one overwhelming presentation. Each conversation addresses a core area, so decisions are clear and actionable.

Financial Plan—Retirement & Cash Flow

Whether you’re two years from retirement or twenty years from work being optional, the goal is the same: clarity on your numbers. We model your income, spending, and assets year by year to answer the question: when can I stop working? The goal is to show you exactly when work becomes optional and whether your lifestyle is fully supported for the rest of your life.

We stress-test the plan against market downturns, inflation spikes, and unexpected expenses so you can see exactly where you stand and when you can retire comfortably.

Financial Plan—Investments

Your portfolio should serve your plan, not the other way around. We review what you own, what it’s costing you, and whether it’s doing what it needs to do.

We then build an investment strategy rooted in evidence and connected to your tax return and financial plan. Every decision we make with your money ties back to your bigger picture.

Financial Plan—Taxes

Taxes are likely your single largest expense and we dig deep into your tax strategy. We start with this year’s return and build a forward-looking strategy based on your projected cash flow to reduce what you owe now and in the future.

Financial Plan—Risk Planning

It is just as important to protect your assets as it is to ensure they go where you intend. We review your insurance coverage and estate documents to make sure your family and assets are protected, including beneficiary designations, trust funding, and life insurance.

What to expect—Year 2+

Bull Oak will continually oversee and optimize your finances. But beyond the work we do behind the scenes, we’ll also meet with you throughout the year.
